COVID-19: 250 expats in Kuwait have resigned since epidemic

Abu Dhabi: About 250 expatriate teachers from the Ministry of Education have resigned since the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis, while local procurement procedures remain blocked in the public education sector due to the uncertainty of the coming school year and the school system, Kuwaiti media reported.

The ministry instructor wants to have more than about 1,000 instructors for the next school year, an educational source told Al Rai.

The source said the administrative sector had submitted applications to the public education sector to hire teachers that met the requirements, but had still been informed of the response.

On August 25 of the year, the administrative sector registers with the new ones and gives them medical examinations to complete the formalities.

The educational year in Kuwait officially ended when the Cabinet approved the plans presented through Education Minister Saud Al Harbi in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The educational year in Kuwait runs from September to August.

The Ministry of Education has promoted all the fellows in the country. Students who have an absence degree are entitled to take the second-round exams. The next school year begins on October 4 and the categories can resume online due to the pandemic.

Minister Al Harbi said Kuwait’s online learning formula would be able to welcome the 450,000 public school fellows for their first online learning experience.
