Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said Bangladesh seeks foreign advice and stressed that Bangladesh is a country that fought and bled to identify democracy and justice, protecting people’s rights.
“I would advise (foreign critics) to first look in the mirror before criticizing others. ” “We don’t need so many tips,” he told reporters (October 8, 2022) after attending a program in Sylhet Sadar upazila.
Without mentioning the call of any country, he said that many of them, who give lectures on human rights and democracy, were not on Bangladesh’s side when the country fought for independence and struggled to identify democracy, justice and human rights and when the voice of other people denied.
Momen said the trend toward hegemony is increasing as Bangladesh moves toward a position and does so on the economic front.
He said the government never carries out extrajudicial killings and does not need to see anyone disappear, yet there are wounded in each and every country.
“We take it very seriously that such injuries do not happen,” Momen said, adding that Sheikh Hasina’s government is in a position to take action in accordance with the law against those responsible.
The foreign minister expressed his dissatisfaction with a segment of the media that mentioned that other people’s media pass on to foreigners to inquire about Bangladesh’s internal problems.
