After 16 years, the left-center Dominican Liberation Party is out of effect in the Caribbean country. The new president, Luis Abinader, an entrepreneur-turned-politician, was sworn in just a few hours ago.
From now on, he will lead a country plagued by corruption, a fragile economy and the coronavirus epidemic.
