Please note that the initial passenger traffic figures for Ezeiza Airport, Argentina, for 2019 and January 2020 have been adjusted to include more incoming passengers not included in the initial count, for an average of about 5% of total passenger traffic at Ezeiza Airport and 1% of total traffic in CAAP during this period. Most importantly, inbound traffic does not generate revenue, as fares apply to departing passengers.

Preliminary knowledge on 750 flights in August, 873 flights in September, 547 in October, 423 in November, 280 in December 2019, 1,256 in January and 195 in February 2020 at Brasilia airport, due to delays in the submission of data through third parties. In addition, from November 2019, the corporation reclassified its passenger traffic figures from Brasilia Airport between international, domestic and transit flights retroactively from June 2018 to return to the counting method used until May 2018. Despite this, global traffic figures remain unchanged.

Cargo volumes in Uruguay were adjusted from January 2019 to June 2020 to reflect all shipment passing through the shipping terminal, air cargo only.

Passenger summary

Total passenger traffic in July 2020 was reduced by 92.9% year-on-year, reflecting the continued effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on air travel, while there is a slight sequential improvement from the 96.9% decline in June. Although more countries continued to ease the travel restrictions imposed through the government in July, demand for passengers remains low. International traffic is down 93.3% year-on-year, while domestic traffic is down 93.6% year-on-year.

In Argentina, total passenger traffic decreased by 99.5% year-on-year, due to extended government measures implemented in mid-March restricting domestic and foreign flights to involve disruption. International passenger traffic fell by 99.0%, maintaining minimum levels by repatriation and special flights, while domestic passenger traffic fell by 99.8% year-on-year.

In Italy, passenger traffic was minimized by 79.3% year-on-year, an improvement from the minimum 97.5% recorded in June. International traffic was minimized by 83.5% year-on-year, while national passenger traffic fell to a 60.8% year-on-year rate. In July, airlines continued to increase their destinations and frequencies at both airports. Several airlines currently operate at Pisa and Florence airports, including Air France, KLM, Ryanair and Vueling, among others.

In Brazil, total passenger traffic was minimized by 83.4% year-on-year, reflecting an 82.0% minimisation in domestic passenger traffic and no traffic. However, this indicated a sequential improvement over the 91.3% decline in June.

In Uruguay, passenger traffic decreased by 97.0% year-on-year. Commercial operations restarted in the first week of July, borders remain close to non-resident foreigners with some exemptions and demand for travel remains low.

In Ecuador, passenger traffic decreased by 91.0% year-on-year. Commercial flights resumed in June and borders are open; some restrictions apply to all arriving passengers. In July, airlines continued to operate foreign routes to the United States, special flights to some European cities, and domestic routes to Quito.

In Armenia, total passenger traffic decreased by 95.2%, reflecting the restriction of air advertising as a component of government action. Only repatriation flights and special flights are operated and the borders remain close to non-resident aliens.

Volume and load movements

The volume of cargo decreased by 53.2% compared to July 2020, mainly due to falls of 48.4% in Argentina, 83.3% in Brazil and 76.8% in Ecuador.

Aircraft movements decreased by 78.2% year-on-year in July 2020, mainly due to declines of 87.0% in Argentina, 67.3% in Brazil, 61.4% in Italy and 65.2% in Ecuador. Aircraft movements also decreased by 76.7% in Uruguay, 87.5% in Armenia and 81.5% in Peru.
