Cases of Covid-19 in India have surpassed 71 lakh, at the fastest speed in the world, even as the epidemic shows signs of slowdown.
India added more than 66,000 new instances in 24 hours, bringing the total to more than 71 lakh in Asia’s third largest economy, according to the Ministry of Health update at 8am on 12 October, including more than 1. 09 lakh of deaths and nearly 61. 4 lakh recovered.
Active instances have now fallen for the ninth consecutive day and are below 8. 7 lakh after reaching a maximum of 10. 17 lakh in mid-September.

However, India is prepared to outperform the United States (77. 5 instances of lakh) as the country with the highest number of instances, as the country prepares for the fifth opening of the economy by allowing schools, cinemas and entertainment parks to reopen from October 15.

The coronavirus continued to spread continuously, with resurgences in Europe and North America. China recorded its first transmission infections in 17 days.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to intensify efforts to engage Covid-19 on Monday. South Korea has social estating needs at ease and the governor of Jakarta has eased restrictions in the Indonesian capital.
Globally, the total number of Covid-19 demonstrations exceeded 37. 3 million, of which more than 1. 07 million died.
