Coronavirus: UAE reports 614 new COVID-19s amid increased infections

The United Arab Emirates has shown 614 new cases of coronavirus in more than 24 hours, the fitness ministry reported on Thursday amid a surge in infections.

The new instances were detected after 67,821 new tests were conducted in the UAE, bringing the total number of infections to 72,154.

The Ministry of Health also showed that another 639 people who had already tested positive for the virus have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 62,668.

Meanwhile, no new COVID-19-like deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, keeping the death toll at 387.

The United Arab Emirates recorded its largest increase on 22 May, when 994 cases were shown over a 24-hour period.Since then, new infections have declined to 164 on August 3 and then to 735 new cases on Wednesday.
