On Friday, the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention reported 342 cases of Covid-19 coronavirus, including 330 recoveries and no deaths.
The EU’s drug watchdog on Wednesday approved Pfizer and Moderna Covid injections for children over six months of age as fears of a winter wave of infections mount.
At the same time, the European Medicines Agency also approved a separate injection of Moderna, in particular targeting BA. 4 and BA. 5 strains of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The EMA’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use “recommended. . . use in children older than six months to 4 years for Comirnaty and use in children older than six months to five years for Spikevax,” the Amsterdam-based watchdog said, referring to Pfizer. and Modern Bites, respectively.
But he said that, compared to injections for others over five, doses for babies will be lower.
Pfizer Comirnaty can be administered as the number one vaccine consisting of 3 doses, while Spikevax will consist of two doses.
“For young people in those age groups, vaccines are given as injections into the muscles of the upper arm or thigh,” the EMA said.
In the meantime, he also adapted Moderna’s Spikevax booster jab in opposition to the new strains of the Omicron variant.
“The bivalent vaccine is for adults and young people from 12 years of age who have already received the number one vaccine against Covid-19,” says the EMA.
