Coronavirus: Saudi Arabia pledges $100 million to UN and WHO to fight COVID-19

Saudi Arabia is committed to donating $100 million to the United Nations and its agencies and the World Health Organization (WHO) in the foreign reaction to the coronavirus pandemic, the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya al-Mouallimi, announced.

Al-Mouallimi announced the Kingdom’s donation in an assembly with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

“This aid is a component of the Kingdom’s external efforts to assist in the fight against coronavirus, and because Saudi Arabia is aware of the importance of external cooperation, solidarity and teamwork for a transparent, strong, coordinated and comprehensive global response,” said the ambassador, quoted through the state news agency SPA.
