Coronavirus: more than 52,000 new contaminations in 24 hours in France

The French Public Health Society reported on Sunday of a record of 52,000 new contamination by Coronavirus in 24 hours, 6,600 more than the previous record of the eve (45,422).

The number of hospitalized patients in the last seven days, rises to 12,176 and, from them, were admitted for resuscitation.

La France a enregistré 116 décès supplémentaires lors des dernières 24 heures, ce qui porte le bilan total à 34.761 morts.

The infection rate increased in 24 hours from 16% to 17% and 141 new infected families were recorded, bringing the total to 2,321.

The total number of infection cases since the outbreak of Covid-19 in France now amounts to 1,138,507, after reaching the million milestone on Friday.

Depuis vendredi soir à minuit, 54 départements, ainsi que la Polynésie française, soit 46 millions de Français, sont désormais concernés par des mesures de couvre-feu destinées à contenir la deuxième vague de l’épidémie.

The French government is ruling out the option of a new lockdown, Cédric O, the secretary of state in charge of the virtual transition, said on Sunday.

“Tout est possible”, a-t-il ajouté.

Health Minister Olivier Véran warned on Saturday that the toll of the epidemic will increase due to the gap between contaminations and hospitalizations.
