The UK recorded the number of new coronavirus cases on Thursday since 12 June, and government figures show 1,522 positive cases.
The number of new cases, which increased 24 hours to nine in the morning on August 27, increased to 474 the previous day.
The average number of instances shown in the last seven days is 1,155, the highest moving average since June 22.
The number of instances and the seven-day moving average are higher than the number of Instances on March 23, the day the national lockouts were announced (967 instances and 730 instances on a seven-day moving average).

The threat of serious illness and death in young people with Covid-19 is “extremely rare,” according to the largest test to date admitted to the hospital, which researchers say reassures parents when they return to school.
The test included two-thirds of all patients admitted to hospitals in England, Scotland and Wales with Covid-19. Of these, 651 – less than 1% – were young and other young people under the age of 19. Six of those patients – less than 1% – died. They all had serious underlying fitness problems.
“These were young people with deep comorities, a trail of asthma and no cystic fibrosis,” said Calum Semple, professor of child health and epidemic medicine at the University of Liverpool, and co-director of the study through the International Consortium of Severe Acutes in Respiratory and Emerging Infections. His situations included cancer and serious neurological, blood or heart problems.
The co-author of the BMJ article, Dr Olivia Swann, senior professor of Paediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Edinburgh, said: “The absolute threat of admission to the hospital is minimal.” The threat of serious illness and death is also very low.
But among young people admitted to extensive care, they found that children under one years of age were 3 times the same age risk, even though this included premature children born and diagnosed in the hospital.
