As of Monday morning (New Zealand time), there had been 23.5 million COVID-19 infections, a fraction of the actual figure, and 810,000 deaths.
Here are the advances from all over the world.
United Kingdom
Major UK medical officials said young people return to school after the summer holidays, warning that lack of education posed far greater dangers to them than getting COVID-19.
“Very few, if any, young or adolescents will suffer long-term damage from COVID-19 just because they attend school,” they said. “This will have to be compared to a long-term damage certainty for many young people and other young people for not attending school.”
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said reopening schools in September is a social, economic and ethical imperative, and insisted that they could operate safely despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Germany
Germany temporarily bans personal holidays, several lawmakers warned on Sunday, after the number of coronavirus infections in Europe’s largest economy reached a maximum of four months.
The number of cases shown in Germany has increased to 2034 to 232,082, according to the robert Koch Institute for Infectious Diseases (RKI) on Saturday, the point since last April. The number of reported deaths increased from seven to 9267.
“We will have to not threaten the care of children and schools, and that young people are forced to stay at home for weeks because we have accepted higher infection rates due to lax regulations in family circle celebrations,” said Saskia Esken, co-leader of the Social Democrats, he said.
France
The French Ministry of Health reported on Sunday 4897 new coronavirus infections in more than 24 hours, marking the highest point since the end of a two-month blockade in May to combat the pandemic.
The ministry said the total number of coronavirus deaths in the country increased through one in the more than 24 hours to succeed in 30513.
Coronavirus circulates 4 times more among children under 40 in France than among those over 65, the minister said, while warning that the infection is increasing among the elderly and the most vulnerable as well.
Italy
Italy’s Ministry of Fitness reported on Saturday 1,071 new coronavirus infections in more than 24 hours, surpassing 1,000 daily instances for the first time since May, when the government relaxed the inflexible blocking measures.
Peru
At least thirteen other people were crushed or suffocated when revelers tried to flee a Lima nightclub after being attacked by police for throwing a party in violation of coronavirus restrictions.
The club’s one couple have been arrested on Sunday, announced the Interior Ministry. In an earlier statement, the subsidiary attributed the deaths to “the irresponsibility of unscrupulous businessman.”
The revelers were wedged between the only door, which was locked, and a staircase leading to the street, police said. The thirteen affected were 11 men and two women between the ages of 20 and 30.
Australia
Australia recorded 17 new coronavirus deaths on Sunday, however, infections in Victoria State, that of all the most recent deaths, show a downward trend, the government said.
Effective unemployment in Australia will exceed 13% until the end of September, the treasurer Josh Frydenberg said, as nearly a share of a million other people lose their jobs due to a total blockade of the country’s most populous city. Once identified as a world leader in the fight against COVID-19, Australia has experienced an outbreak of new infections.
South Korea
The South Korean government reported Sunday on the largest buildup of new coronavirus cases since early March, saying stricter social estrangement regulations would possibly be needed as epidemics continue to spread from a Seoul church and other gatherings.
India
The number of coronavirus infections in India surpassed the 3 million mark with 69239 new cases reported on Sunday, even as the country opened sectors of a blockade that blocked businesses and jeopardized economic growth.
With the fifth consecutive day of more than 60,000 new cases, India’s count stands at 3.04 million, according to the knowledge of the Federal Department of Health, only the United States and Brazil. The number of COVID-19 deaths in India increased from 912 to 56,706.
China
Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang said the country’s economy could grow this year, state radio reported Sunday, despite the effect of the pandemic.
The Philippines
On Sunday, the Philippines recorded 2,378 new coronavirus infections, its smallest peak in about 4 weeks, however, the national total increased to 189601, even the highest in Southeast Asia.
In a bulletin, the Ministry of Health also reported 32 more deaths,
Israel
Thousands of Israelis demonstrated in Jerusalem on Saturday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and summer protests over alleged corruption and government management of the coronavirus pandemic showed little sign of a slowdown.
A giant crowd marched through the streets in front of Netanyahu’s official residence, waving banners and flags and calling for his resignation. Some protesters clashed with police, who arrested at least seven people. A wounded cop.
