Live updates on coronavirus: a record 49931 new infections in the last 24 hours has raised India’s COVID-19 count beyond the 14 lakh mark. The number of coronaviruses in the country stood at 14,35,453, the EU Ministry of Health said this morning, adding that 708 COVID-19 patients have died since yesterday, bringing the total number of Covid-like deaths to 32,771. More than 9.1 lakh patients have recovered and the cure rate was 63.92% this morning.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launch “high-throughput” COVID-19 testing facilities in three cities — Noida, Mumbai and Kolkata — via video conferencing.
Speaking in a virtual program, Prime Minister Modi said India’s coronavirus mortality rate is much lower than that of other primary nations. “The recovery rate is higher than the maximum of countries and is already improving,” he added.
“The global congratulates us on the efforts of the infants. We have no lack of conscience,” the Prime Minister said.
India is the third most affected country in the world, after the United States and Brazil.
