Coronavirus in New Mexico: Certain COVID-19 restrictions lifted through the Mescalero Apache tribe

Some COVID-19 restrictions enacted in parts of the Apache Mescalero Nation have been eased through tribal officials.

A decree issued on August 19 through the Mescalero Apache tribe allowed worship to resume inside the reserve. The ordinance came into effect at 8 a. m. on Sunday, read the executive order.

The temperature of those attending churches should be monitored and the occupancy limits will be 75%. Close contact between Americans will be minimized and spaced 3 feet away, in the order indicated.

Anyone who violates the order can face criminal consequences and non-tribal members can be removed from the reserve, depending on the order.

In addition, Apache Travel Center Casino reopened at 8 a. m. Monday, according to the press release.

These forward security measures are in the travel center on US Route 70 west of Ruidoso.

Physical distancing is required on all slot machines and strict cleaning and hygiene practices are applied, consistent with the pitch. Upon entering, matching conditions are checked and a mask is required. Smoking is prohibited, read the press release.
