Coronavirus in India: about one in 4 in Delhi had Covid-19, according to a study

The government survey indicated that 23.48% of the other 21,387 people whose blood samples were tested had Covid-19 antibodies.

This suggests that infections in the city are much more frequent than indicates the number of cases shown.

Delhi has so far recorded 123,747 cases, equivalent to less than 1% of its population of 19.8 million.

At 23.44%, the number of infections would be 4.65 million in a city of this size. A government press release states that the difference shows that “a giant number of inflamed people remain asymptomatic.”

He even says the 23.48% figure would possibly be too low because Delhi has several dense population portfolios. But he adds that “a significant proportion of the population remains vulnerable” and that all security measures must be strictly enforced.

Experts say the study, the first of its kind in India, is because it will help the government better perceive the spread of the virus.

It will consult them for greater distribution of verification services and will also expand area-specific containment policies.

Delhi, one of India’s hardest-hit cities, experienced a chronic shortage of hospital beds in the first two weeks of June.

But hospital infrastructure has since advanced and the number of cases has also declined.

The capital has recorded between 1,200 and 1,600 new instances per day in the last two weeks, about part of its count in the last week of June.

And on Monday, the city recorded 954 cases.

The sharp decrease in the number of can be attributed to further testing, tracking, containment and isolation.

The city also saw a drop in the number of deaths.
