The city of Ottawa is asking citizens who have COVID-19 vaccination appointments to avoid attending coronavirus vaccination clinics.
A city spokesman told Global News that “many people” go to clinics unreservedly, causing outdoor crowds to form at the sites.
While the city opened reservations for anyone over the age of 90 in the city before this week, all reservations have already been made, the city announced friday.
Mayor Jim Watson said Thursday that 1,958 citizens of the elderly and senior cohort had booked vaccine appointments on the first day the lines were open.
Last night, @OttawaHealth reported that 1958 senior citizens have made an appointment for their COVID-19 vaccine.

The city is now pausing to book more electronic appointments over the weekend in anticipation of ontario’s provincial portal connecting online on Monday.

Residents over the age of 90 who have not yet made an appointment to receive a vaccine should do so next week.
The city also introduced a vaccine update subscription service on Friday to provide citizens with up-to-date data on when and where they can be vaccinated at the end of their journey.
No vaccination clinic in Ottawa offers appointments without an appointment.
This includes the Nepean Sportsplex, which began administering doses to others over 90 on Friday, and the Queensway Carleton Hospital Clinic, which began vaccinating network fitness staff on Thursday.
Ottawa has now administered more than 73,000 vaccine doses out of a total of 80,540 doses won to date, according to Ottawa Public Health’s COVID-19 score.
Approximately 50% of citizens of nursing homes have already won their dose of the vaccine.
Meanwhile, OPH reported 62 new cases of the virus on Friday, bringing the total number of infections from the onset of the pandemic to 15,400.
However, no new COVID-19-like deaths have been added in the last 24 hours.
The number of active coronaviruses increased to 570 from 530 the previous day.
Ottawa’s coronavirus onset rate remained strong Friday in 36. 7 cases, consisting of 100,000 inhabitants, while the city’s coronavirus positivity rate reached 2. 2% last week.
There are now 31 other people at the local hospital with COVID-19, 3 of whom are in the intensive care unit. OPH’s COVID-19 board now shows that one hundred percent of acute care beds are occupied by the city’s fitness care system, while 79% of intensive care beds are occupied.
New outbreaks of coronavirus have recently been reported at Peter D Long-Term Care Home. Clark ran around town and at the Lord Lansdowne Retirement Residence, a staff member on the site who tested positive for the virus.
