Coronavirus Highlights: India 188 new Covid cases, no deaths in 24 hours

India has reported 188 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, government data showed Wednesday morning. No new deaths were reported and the number of deaths was 5,30,696. There are 3,468 active cases in the country. Authorities are lately on high alert due to a surge in cases in China and elsewhere. Hospitals across the country held training Tuesday to assess their preparedness for a surge in such cases here.

The Odisha government is in a position to deal with any scenario due to a resurgence of the coronavirus in the state, the state’s fitness minister, Naba Kishore Das, said on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters about Odisha’s preparation for the Omicron subvariant BF. 7 wreaking havoc in some countries, Mr. Das said he held a review assembly on the day on surveillance and testing.

“If there’s a sudden resurgence of Covid, it’s not about having a plan A or a plan B. We are ready under the competent leadership of Naveen Patnaik. . .
