Eddy O’Brien, 25, from Accrington, Lancashire, ran aground on one of 18 cruise ships moored in Manila.
He said spending 130 days quarantined in a cabin 24 hours a day had been “difficult.”
When he arrived at Manchester Airport he said he planned to “put my feet up” and have his “mum’s shepherd’s pie”.
More than 3,000 passengers were repatriated after leaving the ship on 18 March, however, the team had to quarantine on board and restrictions delayed their return.
“We had shown [Covid-19] on board the shipment. The shipment went into full quarantine … and we got stuck in cabins 24 hours a day for 14 days,” said sound engineer Mr. O’Brien.
He said it intellectual health.
His mother hugged him when he arrived at the airport.
“It’s wonderful to see Array … but look at his beard. I think he wants some attention,” Jo-Ann O’Brien said.
He said that now that he was at home, his priorities were “shoes, feet up, maybe bathing and relaxing” and enjoying the “northern times.”
However, his m had ideas.
“I haven’t asked to make myself a cup of tea for 10 months,” she says.
