Coronavirus: COVID-19 – Information on measures in position on arrival in metropolitan France and DOM-TOM

Sanitary measures to all travelers before departure and arrival to French territory. In addition, restrictions on access to French territory depend on the country of origin of the travellers.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 when accessing France, you will want to complete a mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Can I enter metropolitan France?

From the European area

There are no restrictions on travelling to metropolitan France from Europe (European-speaking states, United Kingdom, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland and the Vatican).

From a third country

Gradual and differentiated opening of European borders from 1 July

People arriving from Europe (EU Member States, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, United Kingdom, San Marino, Vatican City State and Switzerland) or one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay will no longer be subject to restrictions on the prevention of dangers related to the COVID-19 epidemic when they enter France.

This list will be updated at least every two weeks, together with our European partners, taking into account the recommendations of the Council of the European Union, the evolution of the fitness scenario and the provision of reciprocity.

Travellers from other countries are advised to perform a negative PCR check prior to departure and, for those who fail to do so, will be informed upon arrival in France of two-week quarantine situations at one site. or, if necessary, in special accommodation. You will be informed of the chances of carrying out a check at the airport and in France.

Passengers are required to provide their airline with a self-report prior to boarding indicating that they have no symptoms of COVID-19 and that, in their view, they have not been in contact with a proven case of COVID-19 within two weeks of the flight. They’ll have to wear a protective mask.

In addition, a decree brought provisions for air passengers from certain countries from 1 August 2020 on “the presentation of the effects of a virological negative COVID-19 (e.g. a PCR) carried out less than 72 hours before the flight”. In view of this text:

Persons 11 years of age or older travelling to metropolitan France from Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, the United States or Panama will have to provide such effects when boarding the flight.

Persons over the age of 11 or older from Algeria, Brazil, India, Israel, Kuwait, Madagascar, Oman, Peru, Qatar, Serbia, South Africa or Turkey who do not submit such a document upon arrival in France will be sent to a medical check- at check time. Under these provisions, it is strongly recommended that persons aged 11 years or older from one of these 12 countries conduct this virological check locally, if they can, no more than 72 hours before fgentle.

To return to metropolitan France, you must complete and carry two documents with you:

The exempt foreign traffic certificate for metropolitan France that can be downloaded from the home office’s online page. You must provide this certificate to agencies before using your ticket, as well as to the border control government (to add air, sea and land trains).

A certificate that you have symptoms of COVID-19 (included in the same document).

The documents authorising a France which would have expired on 16 March 2020 and 15 June 2020 have been extended for six months.
