Coronavirus: Bahrain reopens King Fahd road for transit trucks

Bahrain has reopened the King Fahd Road Bridge linking the island’s kingdom with Saudi Arabia for truck drivers after months of closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he said.

Mohammed Hassan al-Isa, director of landports for customs affairs, made the announcement Thursday following an agreement with the Saudi General Customs Authority that allows Uk brands to distribute products in the region.

The reopening comes after the bridge’s primary renovations were completed in June on both sides, adding a 45% increase in capacity following the suspension of passengers in March.

The reworked bridge will now come with new Saudi-like doors and committed electronic payment lanes to facilitate the management of bridge tolls in both respects.
