A top World Health Organization (WHO) official has praised Sweden’s coronavirus response and suggested that more countries should follow the Nordic nation’s lead.
Dr David Nabarro, one of the UN Health Agency’s six special envoys for Covid-19, has mentioned “serious problems” in Swedish nursing homes, which have led to a peak death rate at the start of the pandemic, but said the country had shown how “you can live your life having the virus in your midst”.

As Bloomberg reports, Sweden “imposed far fewer restrictions on movement than others and trusted that Swedes would act responsibly and adopt rules established through the country’s health authorities. “
