Honored as a peacemaker and virtuoso, Amir Vahab is a composer, singer, and lecturer specializing in a wide range of classical Persian instruments: tanbour, saz, oud, ney, daf, and zarb. Amir is known for his expertise in Persian culture and history, as well as the spirituality provided by his music and teachings. Amir has been described as “one of the most respected musicians and composers of Persian folk music in the world”. Amir is the leader and main actor of the Amir Vahab Ensemble.
Dr. Kaveh Madani is an environmental scientist, educator, and activist known for his paintings of complex human-natural systems at the interface of science, politics, and society. He is currently Director of the Institute for Water, Environment and Development at the United Nations University. The United Nations Water Expert Group (UNU-INWEH), known as the United Nations Expert Group on Water, where it leads clinical studies and policy responses to address the global water and developing environment crises.
Dr. Madani is a former Deputy Vice President of Iran who served as deputy director of Iran’s Ministry of Environment. He also served as Vice-President of the United Nations Environment Assembly Office and Head of the Convention and International Affairs Centre of the Iran Department. He has held various strategic roles in his civil service and has led the Iranian delegation to various primary intergovernmental meetings and negotiations.
As a prolific scholar, Madani has worked extensively on complex issues such as water management, environmental and energy policies, food security, climate change effects and adaptation, sustainable development, as well as cross-border conflicts and negotiations in North America, Europe, and Africa. , Asia and the Middle Oriente. Est. Il has won several prestigious awards and distinctions for its contributions to fundamental research, pedagogical innovations, and humanitarian and outreach activities. These gained popularity in 2012 through the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). as one of the Ten New Faces of Civil Engineering, the Arne Richter Award for Outstanding Young Scientists awarded through the European Geosciences Union (EGU) in 2016, and the Walter Huber Prize through ASCE. Civil Engineering Research Award in 2017.
