Commuter chaos in Melbourne after pedestrian hit and killed by truck on Frankston Highway

All lanes of a Melbourne motorway heading into the city were closed along a busy stretch of road after a man fatally hit a lorry.

The fatal collision happened near Seaford Road on Frankston Highway around 5:30 a. m. on Wednesday.

It is still known in which cases the truck collided with the pedestrian, but the driver of the truck stopped at the scene and is assisting police in their investigation.

The slain pedestrian has not yet been officially identified.

Commuters took to social media to describe the stretch of road as an “insane asylum,” saying it was a “mess” in both directions.

All lanes of the Frankston Expressway into the city, between Seaford Road and the Mornington Peninsula Expressway, were closed at rush hour Wednesday morning after the collision.

Motorists should take Seaford Road and use Frankston Dandenong Road and Peninsula Link to avoid closure.

“Please take a detour as soon as possible to avoid delays on the motorway as there will be queues when it closes,” the council said.

“The lanes will reopen when the investigations are complete and they are. “
