Coloplast announces new production in Portugal

The new production facility will produce Coloplast’s intermittent catheters used by others with urinary retention, such as others with spinal cord injury or spina bifida, who are unable to empty their bladder. With this new location, Coloplast aims to meet developing global needs. demand for intermittent catheters, with demand in Europe, which is the company’s largest market, accounting for approximately 60% of its total sales. Although Europe is a more mature market, Coloplast continues to see strong demand for its intermittent catheters, with continued expansion demand outpacing the market.

Coloplast’s long-term bio-based expansion ambition of 8-10% annually requires the company to identify a new production site within one to two to three years to meet developing demand. Coloplast has a global production network with high-volume production facilities in Hungary. , China and Costa Rica, specialized production in the United States, France, Germany, Sweden and Iceland, as well as a pilot and innovation plant in Denmark. The new headquarters in Portugal will have an area of ​​30,000 m2, Coloplast’s largest to date, and is expected to be operational from 2026.

Global Operations Plan 6 The new site in Portugal is a component of Coloblast’s Global Operations Plan 6 (GOP6) “Ready for the Future”. Like previous Global Operations Plans, GOP6 continues to focus on effective operations in several other avenues and initiatives.
