Collado: 50 Dominican hotels will restart this month with more than 65% of their workforce

Major hotel chains restarted operations in the Dominican Republic following their suspension by the COVID-19 pandemic, which Tourism Minister David Collado has known as restarting the recovery of a sector that contributes 15% of gross domestic product (GDP) and 500,000 jobs in the country.

The resumption of tourism in the country begins. In addition to the hotels that have resumed their services, another 50 with more than 65% of them will restart operations, he added.

Collado said that “it is the First of October and here we prosper. Today we are firm in the recovery of tourism,” the official said as he led the act of re-operations at Dream Dominicus La Romana, the AMResrots hotel chain.

He thanked the personal sector for his call from President Luis Abinader for reopening the doors of hotels of foreign primary chains on Thursday, October 1.
