Social media giant Facebook got rid of an ad from Trump’s crusade that falsely claimed that refugees would increase the threat of the coronavirus pandemic.
The announcement featured a clip through Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden over the border while claiming biden would increase the number of refugees arriving from Syria, Somalia and Yemen by 700%.
The video covered with a text about the “health risks” of an “increase in the number of refugees”.
“We have rejected these ads because we do not allow accusations that other people’s physical security, fitness, or survival is threatened by others because of their national origin or immigration status,” Facebook spokesman Andy Stone told NBC News.
At least 38 other versions of the ad were posted on Facebook in the markets starting Tuesday and were removed the next day. According to the site’s online ad library, electorate-targeted versions in Florida and North Carolina generated tens of thousands of impressions.

The content of the announcement is based on Biden’s purpose of extending annual refugee admissions to 125,000 others, and also aims to address the root cause of migration for so many other people in Central America.

The two applicants vary significantly on the subject of immigration.
