ONTARIO – On Wednesday, August 26, the province of Ontario published its rules on how to deal with COVID-19 cases in schools.
According to one of the rules defined in the plan, if a student is considered to be a positive COVID-19 case and attended school while it is transmissible, this entire cohort of academics can also be sent home for 14 days. In addition, high-risk Americans who may have been in contact with the student, like his siblings, would possibly also be sent home.
“If a school worker or student has at least one symptom that reflects COVID-19, the person will be remote on the school site and arrangements will be made for the user to leave the school building. Then an improved cleanup will be done on the domain where the user had to isolate himself,” said Amber Laberge, Communications Officer of the School Board of the Eastern Ontario Catholic District (CDSBEO). “This scenario will be communicated to public fitness for monitoring and recommendation on testing, cleaning and handling any touch of the individual.”
A whole can be ruled out if you have the idea that there is widespread transmission of COVID-19.
Widespread transmission would likely come with a series of cohorts of academics sent home, or a series of positive cases among the student population and without a known epidemiological source.
In the event of a full redundancy, the province recommends coordinating with Ontario Public Health for large-scale testing.
The province encourages forums to make all these decisions in collaboration with their local public fitness units.
“Each scenario will be thoroughly evaluated through Public Health and resolutions will be made on the point of risk. The resolution to close a school would be taken under the authority of the local Medical Officer in consultation with the school and school board.” said Jodie Hall, communications officer of the School Board of the Higher District of Canada (UCDSB).
Hall explained that the school board would also work heavily with the public fitness workplace to touch who would possibly have been in contact with a student or staff member who tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement on August 26, Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce said parents will be asked to examine their children’s symptoms every day before school.
“If a school worker or student has at least one symptom that reflects COVID-19, the person will be remote on the school site and arrangements will be made without delay for the user to leave the school building. An improved cleanup will then be performed on the domain where the user was forced to isolate himself. This scenario will be communicated to public fitness for monitoring and recommendation on testing, cleaning and handling any touch of the individual,” Lecce said.
