City of Iloilo’s “Undas” regulations only allow other vaccinated people to go to cemeteries

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – Only all or part of others will be allowed into cemeteries, memorial parks and columbariums in Iloilo City from October 31 to November 2, the days when Filipinos celebrate All Saints’ Day and All Saints’ Day.

The mayor of Iloilo, Jerry Treñas, issued on Monday, October 17, Executive Decree 085, series of 2022, by which the protocols of suitability and public order for the holidays known as “Undas” are built.

From October 31 at 00:00 hours until November 2 at 23:59 hours, municipal groups will be stationed at the entrances of cemeteries and similar spaces to verify the vaccination records of visitors, who must also provide a corresponding photo ID. Minors are subject to the same needs and must also be accompanied by an adult.

While the national government has followed an optional policy of wearing face masks, Treñas has ordered the public to wear face masks in cemeteries, where crowds in Undas historically increase to several thousand people.

The EO prohibits vehicles, alcohol, flammable materials, firearms and other deadly weapons, video or speaker devices, cards and other gaming accessories. No night visits will be allowed.

Treñas also indexed flower vendors, adding barangay authorization, network tax certificate, valid vaccine cards and IDs, and the city’s special permit contract.

The municipality has enabled the following spaces for the sale of flowers: Rizal and Osmena streets in the district of Arévalo; Mr. H. del Pilar St. à Molo; Onate Street next to the Mandurriao Public Market; Iznart, Aldeguer and Rizal streets in the town of Iloilo proper; and E. López to Luna streets around the Public Square of Garo.

All vendors must post an anti-smoking sign from the city government and must strictly enforce the rules of no smoking, smoking and drinking alcohol. They will also be required to wear a face mask at all times and maintain some physical distancing in their advertising areas. . – Rappler. com
