City Announces Canada Day Parade Route and Concert HeadlineRs

The city of Fort Saskatchewan provided more highlights on the exciting day of events it has planned for Canada Day.

The July celebrations will be the first in several years that have been adjusted due to coronavirus protocols. Last year’s occasions included a virtual car show, a pancake breakfast behind the wheel and an inverted parade, where citizens can simply drive through static floats like a self-service.

“The city is pleased to announce that our Canada Day birthday party will once again be a live and in-person occasion. It’s been two long years since the city hosted a live occasion due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” the city explained in a press release.

Following the good fortune of Canada Day’s virtual and modified events, citizens will enjoy a Dow-sponsored Canada Day breakfast, an SME-sponsored parade, fireworks and live entertainment.

The pancake lunch will take place from 8 a. m. to 10 a. m. in the Fort Saskatchewan Legion parking lot at 9964 93rd Avenue.

Once residents return, they will line the streets of Fort Saskatchewan and “marvel at the artistic and colorful entrances that walk, drive, and gallop on our parade route. “The parade is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a. m.

The official direction of the parade is as follows:

The Honorary Marshal of the 2022 parade will be the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital Foundation.

“Each year, the city takes the opportunity to single out an organization or individual for exceeding expectations in the network,” said a member of the city of Fort Saskatchewan. “At a time when our network needed it most, nurses and doctors worked tirelessly to make sure we gain medical care around the COVID-19 pandemic. Frontline staff have become the backbone of many communities and we are proud to have the most powerful core here at Fort Sask.

This year’s evening entertainment will feature musical styles from Steven Sware, Harold Reichstein, David Unsworth and Band and Rachel Gleddie.

The city’s day of laughter will conclude with a fireworks show, which will begin at 10:45 p. m. m. , after the evening concert at the Rotary Amphitheater at Peter T Park. Ream.

The city also announced the headliners of this week’s evening concert, adding opening act Hailey Benedict and featuring the female-led band, Nice Horse.

The main headliner of the concert will be The Strumbellas, a select rock band formed in 2008. The two JUNO Award winners have spent much of their time traveling, delivering notable performances at notable festivals, such as Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and more.

Their 2016 studio album, Hope, attracted attention with the single “Spirits” topping Billboard’s alternative songs chart, earning them the JUNO Award for “Single of the Year” and a coveted performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

In addition to all the fun activities, citizens can enjoy a variety of dining options through one of the on-site food trucks.

Transit for the day of the events will be free for all residents, thanks to the sponsorship of MEGlobal.
