A church leader in Ukraine who blamed same-sex marriage and “sin of humanity” from the pandemic tested Covid-19.
Honorary Patriarch Filaret of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church would have been hospitalized after positive for the virus.
At the age of 91, he is one of Ukraine’s most prominent leaders and has about 15 million followers.
But his previous comments on the reasons for the coronavirus outbreak have provoked outrage from LGBT groups, who have expressed fear for their “harmful statements” about egalitarian marriage.

The press service of patriarchy added in a statement: “As head of the Church and as a man, the patriarch has the freedom to express his opinions, which are about morality.
