Chronic tension caused by the Covid-19 pandemic can lead to the birth of a wave of younger babies, scientists say.
Researchers analyzed 8 studies involving more than 8,200 pregnant women and more than one million children.
They found that the tense pregnancy was particularly similar to a decrease in birth weight, explained as a weight of less than five pounds 8 oz. for a full-term baby.
Being born small can cause long-term problems, have been linked to poor educational performance, be obese in adulthood, and premature death.
Being pregnant in itself can be stressful, in addition to a global pandemic that is still wreaked havoc.
Concerns about money, the safety of tasks, children’s housing, or family circle problems can cause “chronic stress” and worsen as a result of coronavirus.
