Since the early part of the first century, the Holy Land has been home to Christian communities whose members have played a role in both the progression of Christianity and the evolution of society in the region. In 1948, with the creation of the State of Israel, Christians have become citizens of a state that explained itself as Jewish. For the first time, a Jewish majority ruled a Christian minority, a new and old truth for Jews and Christians.
In recent months, the leaders of classical Christian communities in the Holy Land have clashed with Israeli civil authorities. Local church leaders claimed that “the ancient indigenous Christian communities of the Holy Land are disappearing. “and existential, with many communities suffering from either demographic decline, bullying, and a challenge to life and worship. “According to Church leaders, radical Israeli Jews are waging a coordinated crusade to seize Christian property, intimidate Christians with abuse and violence, and desecrate Christian holy sites. They also noted that the lack of Christian representation in local government has necessarily led to discrimination against Christians. [1]
On the other hand, the Israeli government has responded that Israel’s Christians are the only Christian population in the Middle East whose numbers are growing. In addition, they claimed that 84% of Christians in Israel were happy with their lives as citizens of a Jewish state. [2]
