China’s reaction to COVID-19 is a blueprint for the future

The rest of the Chinese have suffered minimal impact from the COVID-19 outbreak in terms of infection risk and mortality, a senior official said.

Wu Zunyou, a lead epidemiologist at China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told a news conference Thursday in Beijing that other countries around the world have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak over the past three years, with the other Chinese gaining minimal influence by comparison.

He cited figures from the World Health Organization that as of Monday, the United States had reported 95,260,865 cases shown, 1,050,195 of whom have died from the novel coronavirus. However, the Chinese mainland has reported 1,009,114 cases, shown and asymptomatic cases, with a toll death of around 5,226.

“This means that 70 out of every 100,000 people in mainland China have been infected with COVID-19, with an infection rate of around 1/483 in the United States. The death rate of COVID-19 is 0. 4 more people, according to 100,000 in mainland China, so that’s 1/785 of that in the United States,” he said.

He also has infection and mortality rates in China with global figures.

“China’s population accounts for 18. 32 percent of the overall world population, but cases of infection account for 0. 16 percent of the world’s total number,” he added. “If we calculate the infection rate consistent with 100,000 people, the infection rate in mainland China is 1/112 of the global number and the death rate is 1/229 of the global figures. “

“China is certainly a smart example when it comes to preventing the COVID-19 outbreak. We have no explanation for why we should not have confidence or distrust in our epidemic policies,” he said.
