SHANGHAI (Reuters) – China reported 997 new COVID-19 infections on Oct. 20, including 214 symptomatic and 783 asymptomatic, the National Health Commission said on Friday.
That’s with 962 new cases the day before: 211 symptomatic infections and 751 asymptomatic infections, which China has separately.
There are no new deaths, as the previous day, keeping the death toll at 5,226.
As of Oct. 20, mainland China has shown 256,940 with symptoms.
The Chinese capital, Beijing, reported 15 symptomatic cases and two asymptomatic cases, up to 14 symptomatic cases and 4 asymptomatic cases the previous day, according to local government data.
The Shanghai financial hub reported no symptomatic cases and thirteen asymptomatic cases, to cases without symptoms and 10 asymptomatic cases last day, the local health authority said.
The South Shenzhen Technology Center reported 14 new COVID-19-borne infections, up from 15 the day before.
