China reports 61 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, the highest domestic infections since March 6

BEIJING (Reuters) – China reported 61 new cases of coronavirus on the continent on July 26, compared to 46 cases the previous day, the fitness committee said Monday, as new unrepped infections reached the highest number since early March.

Of the 61 new cases, 57 were national transmissions, the Health Commission said, the highest since 6 March, when 75 new infections were reported.

Among new domestic infections, the number in the western region of Xinjiang nearly doubled from the day before 41.

The northeastern province of Liaoning reported 14 cases, marking the fifth consecutive day of new infections.

Meanwhile, the northeastern province of Jilin has reported two new cases, the first since last May, involving others close to Liaoning.

China reported 44 new asymptomatic patients, compared to the previous day.

On Sunday, mainland China had 83891 shown coronaviruses, the fitness authority said. The death toll by COVID-19 remained at 4634.
