China reports 49 new cases of coronavirus to 24 a day earlier

SHANGHAI – Mainland China reported on new instances of COVID-19 on 2 November, compared to 24 the previous day, the national fitness authority reported on Tuesday.

The National Health Commission said in one that 44 of the new instances were infections imported from abroad.

The commission also reported 61 new asymptomatic cases, to 30 cases reported a day earlier. China does not classify asymptomatic patients as the shown cases of COVID-19.

The total number of cases shown in China is now 86,070, while the death toll remains unchanged at 4,634. (Report via Engen Tham and Wang Jing in Shanghai; edited through Kim Coghill)
