The notorious Wuhan Institute of Virology and the Pakistani military-led Defense Science and Technology Organization (DSTO) have established a highly complex clinical infrastructure to search for fatal pathogens in Pakistan.
The location of the facility remains a closely guarded secret, Geo-Politik reported.
According to global media, China is creating Covid-like pathogens in Pakistan that have the potential to cause viral contamination on a much larger scale than Covid.
The mystery deepened in 2020 when Pakistan first denied such reports.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said “there is nothing secret about Pakistan’s Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory discussed in the report,” Geo-Politik reported.
“Pakistan has shared about the facility with states parties to the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) in its presentation of confidence-building measures,” the FO said.
He added that the facility is intended for the formula of diagnosis and coverage through studies and progression on emerging health threats, surveillance and investigation of outbreaks.
The laboratory is a “Biosafety Level 4” (BSL-4) facility where maximum infectious and harmful agents are tested and developed.
The DSTO is in Chaklala’s cantonment, Rawalpindi, and is led by a two-star general, Geo-Politik reported.
Experts say BSL-4 laboratories are used to examine infectious agents and toxins that can cause deadly diseases for which no vaccine or remedy is available.
