BEIJING, 31 Aug (Reuters) – Beijing-backed Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) said Monday that it would lend 70 million euros ($83.37 million) to Turkey to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

The allocation will be co-financed through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and aims to develop the infrastructure capacity of public hospitals, according to an AIIB report.

The loan is a component of AIIB’s $13 billion financing service to help the public and personal sectors fight the pandemic. In the past, the bank has approved loans totaling $500 million to two progressive banks in Turkey through ease.
