Chile’s clementine season ended with a 3% increase in export volume compared to last year, totaling 51,792 tonnes, the Chilean-ASOEX Citrus Committee reported.

It follows it through Latin America to the bottom, with three hundred tons; Europe, with 70 tonnes; the Far East, with 46 tonnes; Canada, with nine tons, and the Middle East, with only five tons.
According to the chairman of the Citrus Committee, Juan Enrique Ortuzar, it was a good season for the clementines. “We had very smart fruit, although the volume was not what we expected, however, the demand from the American market was very strong as consumers are looking for healthy foods rich in vitamin C. This helped the clementines to one of. your favorite fruits.
Ortuzar also stated that the sector had faced the difficulties caused by the spread of COVID-19 during the season. “All prevention and control measures have been taken very seriously, so all production, export, shipping and unloading processes at destination have worked very well,” he stressed.
He was also optimistic about the 2021 season because the rains were bigger than in years past, more snow accumulated and the soils slightly more saturated. “Thanks to the water supply, we can be positive about the upcoming clementine season,” he said.
