Chelsea vs Manchester United: line-ups and updates

Chelsea will be hoping to bounce back with a win from their clash with Brentford when they host Manchester United in a high-tension clash at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have lost a game since Sept. 6 in the Premier League and Champions League and extended it into midweek, but Blues enthusiasts will be disappointed by the lack of a definitive product shown, with a goalless draw leaving many frustrated.

As they struggled in attack, Chelsea’s defensive consistency could result as the season progressed. Graham Potter’s side have now kept five sheets blank in a row, and have conceded just two goals in seven games under his guidance.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have shown great improvement under Erik ten Hag after his disastrous start to the season, and will be very confident after beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League last time.

Since inflating 6-3 in the Manchester Derby, the Red Devils accumulate five games without knowing the defeat in all competitions (4W, 1L). With just one point separating the two groups in the standings, United have a chance to overtake the Blues if they win this game.

Chelsea XI (3-4-2-1): Arrizabalaga; Chalobah, Silva, Cucurella; Azpilicueta, Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho, Chilwell; Mount, sterling; Aubameyang

Manchester United XI (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Eriksen; Antoine, Fernandes, Sancho; Rashford

After their match against Manchester United, Chelsea will travel to Austria for their all-important UEFA Champions League clash with RB Salzburg on October 25.

They will then head to the south coast to take on Graham Potter’s former club, Brighton.

Manchester United will face Sheriff Tiraspol at home on October 28, with enough of a draw to take them to the knockout stages, before facing West Ham United in a difficult Premier League clash on October 30.
