Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], December 22 (ANI): Amid a new global surge in Covid-19 cases, the central government has urged all states to continue sequencing the genome of samples, the leader’s health secretary said Wednesday. ANI, the additional chief secretary of health, Manoj Agarwal, said the central government had informed all states about the correct assessment of foreign passengers, as well as genome sequencing, on Tuesday. “Yesterday (Tuesday), the central government informed all states about the developing trend of Covid-19 variants in some parts of the world and asked them that total genome sequencing be done in all states,” he said. There has been an alarming increase in covid cases in China, Japan, South Korea, France and the United States. The spike is attributed to the new Omicron BF. 7 subvariant, which has also been detected in 4 states of India.
Amid the new fear of Covid, the Minister of Health of the Union, Mansukh Mandaviya, chaired a high-level assembly to review the existing Covid-19 scenario in the country and the preparation of the public fitness formula for the surveillance, containment and control of the pandemic. He suggested other people stick to the proper Covid habit and get vaccinated against Covid-19. Emphasizing that the pandemic is not over yet, he called on officials to be fully ready to challenge and accentuate vigilance. In the past six months, India has reported 4 cases of BF. 7 Osyncron Subvariant, which is to blame for the existing infection outbreak in China. Sources said there are 10 other variants of Covid-19 in the country, the newest being BF. 7. (ANI)
