INDIANAPOLIS – Governor Holcomb and the governors of U.S. states and territories received a call through the Centers for Disease Control to prepare for coronavirus vaccination through November 1.
CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield is reportedly asked governors to expedite their distribution site access programs.
The letter describes two un nameless candidate vaccines, of which they would require two doses spaced a few weeks apart.Several vaccines are recently found in Phase 3 trials, tested in volunteers.
If one of them succeeds, the United States has contracts in a position to buy loads of millions of doses.
“For now, I will say that we are seriously preparing for what I anticipate will be reality…we’ll have one or more vaccines in November, December, and we want to figure out how to make sure they’re evenly distributed across the country,” Redfield said in an interview with Yahoo Finance.
Three vaccines are lately in Phase 3 trials in the United States: those that evolved through Moderna and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; Pfizer and BioNTech; and AstraZeneca and oxford University.
AstraZeneca will conduct trials of its candidate vaccine at the U.I. Medical School in the coming weeks.
“This is an ordinary opportunity for Indiana University School of Medicine to decide as an attractive site in this important advanced clinical trial and to help the advanced testing of this incredibly promising vaccine candidate. In the fight for the eradication of COVID-19, ” said UI President Michael A.McRobbie.” This is a collaboration and commitment like that in which Indiana University and its world-class medical school have been leaders.”
