EU. 1. 1 is a descendant of XBB. 1. 5 and was detected last year in Europe, CBS News reported. Lately it accounts for about 1. 7% of all COVID cases in the U. S. About 8. 7% of cases in Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, U. S. and Dakotas. Utah has the maximum number of instances with about 100, with Nevada and Colorado reporting single-digit instances.
It is too early to know if this subvariant will cause new symptoms in other inflamed people or if a new form of vaccine is needed. Most Americans now have some form of immunity beyond vaccines or infections, CBS said.
XBB. 1. 5 remains the dominant strain of COVID in the United States, cases have declined to about 27% of all COVID infections, according to the CDC. XBB. 1. 16 accounts for 19. 9% of cases and XBB. 1. 9. 2 accounts for 13%, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The FDA announced this month that upcoming COVID-19 vaccines are expected to target XBB variants circulating in the U. S. lately. He called on brands to start making plans for fall vaccines now.
