“A comprehensive and systematic database covering other regions of the country will allow researchers and policymakers to generate applicable hypotheses, inform COVID 19 critics, uncover trends in pandemic progression, and calibrate pandemic reaction accordingly,” said one official.

These 15 establishments would be the registration sites and would oversee about a hundred Covid-19 hospitals called satellite centres from which knowledge would be collected as a component of the exercise.

The proposal was sent for approval to the ICMR Central Committee for the Ethics of Human Research (CECHR). “Knowledge will help improve clinical control protocols because the repository would help us know which drug works most productively in which age group, the effectiveness of experimental treatments and the side effects that occur. The concept is to produce evidence to improve the COVID remedy -19 patients,” said some other official.
