The American College of Cardiology Cardiovascular Summit will feature several poster presentations on the most important role of telehealth in cardiovascular care since the COVID-19 pandemic. The studies examine the importance of cardiovascular clinics implementing a standardized telehealth framework that improves patient access to care. , as well as the effectiveness and long-term benefits of home cardiac rehabilitation on the physical capacity of patients with disease at the center.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, a gigantic multisite cardiovascular practice in Jacksonville, Florida, has followed a diversity of virtual teams to meet the wishes of its patients. Structured, patient-centred and effective telehealth service that was introduced in June 2022. They conducted a knowledge research from March 2020 to December 2022. From March 18, 2022 to June 25, 2022, the practice averaged 87 telehealth visits consistent with the month. From June 27, 2022 to December 30, 2022, following the entry into force of a structured cardiology telehealth framework, there were 276 telehealth visits per month. As of July 2022, they have supported more than 250 telehealth appointments per month. Overall, telehealth visits increased by as much as 217%, indicating greater patient access to cardiology providers.
The benefits of cardiac rehabilitation are well known in helping patients with cardiovascular disease regain strength, fitness, and quality of life after a cardiac event. IN Arsovia, Poland, the COVID-19 pandemic, an organization of cardiologists, nurses, physiotherapists and other members of the care team created a 24-day outpatient treatment protocol for complex hybrid cardiac telerehabilitation to improve physical capacity of patients with central disease. The protocol included cardiac consultations, electrocardiograms (ECGs), transthoracic echocardiograms, stress tests, Holter ECG monitoring, ambulatory training days, schooling, and psychotherapy, followed by supervised cardiac Nordic walking training at home. The study included 58 CVD outpatients referred in 2020 for cardiac rehabilitation. After the program, a significant improvement in functional capacity was observed. By September 2022, 64% of patients had returned to pain in things compared to just 12% at the start of the program.
