LSMS supports high-frequency longitudinal telephone surveys in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda to monitor the regime and surprise responses and the socio-economic effects of surprises. Initially motivated by the COVID-19 pandemic, high-frequency telephone surveys were implemented in 2020 in low- and middle-income countries that had limited experience with data collection over the phone.
