U. S. Launches Crackdown on Iran-Linked Teams in Syria, Pentagon Says
The United States has carried out airstrikes in eastern Syria against two facilities used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps “and affiliated groups,” Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement on Thursday. The “precision self-defense strikes” were in retaliation for more than a dozen drone and missile attacks on U. S. forces through Iranian-backed militias in Iraq and Syria over the past 10 days. These attacks have shown few signs of slowing down, according to U. S. officials and the president.
