Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa – March 7, 2024 –
This year, Scientologists in South Africa celebrated the fifth anniversary of the opening of their famous castle at the top of Midrand, known as Kyalami Castle. A birthday party that has been celebrated since early 2019, when more than 4,000 visitors from across Africa and around the world gathered at the magnificently restored castle, for a historic inauguration of the Church of Scientology for Africa headquarters. It is a birthday party filled with pride and passion, a birthday party of some other milestone in the history of the Church. Five years later, the building remains one of the most popular among scholars, enthusiastic devotees, denominations and many other South Africans.
Known as Kyalami Castle, this National Heritage Site embodies the fulfillment of a dream first expressed in 1966 through L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Scientology Faith. I tried to convey Scientology’s messages of human rights and social betterment to the land of apartheid. – where, then and for the next three decades, freedom was only a dream for tens of millions of Africans.
During the dark days of the brutal apartheid regime, Hubbard advocated and drafted a new Bill of Rights and a new charter for South Africa that championed the “One Man, One Vote” proposal designed exclusively to emancipate each and every South African.
Dedicated to this vision of equality and freedom, Scientology has opened many churches and missions throughout the African continent over the more than 50 years. With the creation of Kyalami Castle, the number of religious and humanitarian opportunities has increased exponentially.
Scientologists have committed their services to the coordinated response to the covid pandemic, employing their Scientology volunteers for the Volunteer Minister crisis reaction. Their determination and hard work have made Scientology Volunteer Ministers one of the heroes who made a difference for the country during the pandemic. .
Scientology Volunteer Ministers in South Africa have reportedly committed millions of volunteer hours on the front lines of the pandemic, collaborating with the government to slow the spread of the virus. They have decontaminated some 70,000 buildings, from hospitals, clinics and senior centers. to government offices, police departments, shelters, orphanages, and more. They have protected the health of millions of other people who use the country’s taxis and buses every day. Scientology Volunteer Ministers have disinfected firefighters, ambulances, paramedics and emergency centers. Amenities, plenty of 100,000 government services and more than 11 billion square feet of space, exercise stations, and entire fleets of buses. And about 14,000 taxis every day, free of charge.
“The paintings done through the Volunteer Ministers are something I will never forget,” said the executive mayor of Rand City West. “You came here at a time when we were very terrified. . . Fighting an enemy we can’t even see. This branch and this team idea us. It’s huge, the paintings you’ve made. . . Your presence reminds us that He cares about us.
They encouraged a grassroots motion and began offering skill-building workshops to empower others to rebuild South Africa, adding stakeholders, government officials, devoted leaders, police officers, educators and entrepreneurs, network members, and many others who have been trained at Castle Kyalami.
Today, the number of South Africans who have benefited from the program has reached 25,000 and are helping their communities with the skills they learned in the Church of Scientology. These courses will offer education on the generation developed for the program through Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. .
Today, five years later, Kyalami Castle continues to grow. Scientology now offers its social enhancement systems in more than 20 African countries.
“Our purpose is very simple: to improve lives by equipping other people with effective skills for a larger society. We are opening our doors and putting our resources at the service of the growth of our continent and running with all of us who have the same vision. ” said Church of Scientology spokesman Sandile Hlayisi.
While Kyalami Castle serves as the African headquarters of Scientology, the church is securing several homes throughout Africa for long-term expansion.
