CHICAGO (AP) – Dexter Fowler helped St. Louis begin quickly on his return from a coronavirus outbreak, hitting a two-race bachelor in a four-race first inn, and the Cardinals beat 5 to the Chicago White Sox. -1 on Saturday in the opening match of a double title.
Playing his first game since July 29, St. Louis looked much sharper than Chicago as he improved to 3-3 during the season. All other primary groups had played at least thirteen games a day.
Cardinals right-hander Adam Wainwright (2-0) pitched five races of one at the start of the year. Giovanny Gallegos retired in the sixth before John Gant finished the seven-set game, a new rule for the doubles in the season shortened by the pandemic.

The White Sox finished with only three hits, two for Danny Mendick, and never recovered after Lucas Giolito (1-2) had an unstable start.
With an out and runners at first and for time in the first, Giolito hit Tyler O’Neill and Matt Carpenter to force space to a point. The best prospect Dylan Carlson then retired in his primary league deyet, but Fowler and Andrew Knizner followed with back-to-back singles to give St. Louis a 4-0 lead.
The Cardinals were almost given another run in the first, but Fowler shot the house when he tried to score with a Harrison Bader hit.
Giolito allowed five runs, four earned runs and six hits in five innings. The right has been in the open of late, 1-0 with 1.89 MPM in its last 3 starts.
Carlson, 21, scored 0 of 3 in his major league deyet, however, he made a big slippery catch on Edwin Encarnación’s left line in the fourth. He rose from the team’s educational facility of choice in Springfield, Missouri, before the game.

Cardinals: LHP Austin Gomber has been placed on the disabled list. Gomber has tested positive for COVID-19, but has emerged as a possible fear in contact-seeking.
White Stock: RHP Reynaldo López (shoulder pain) showed up on Friday and is scheduled for another consultation on Monday. “He threw well yesterday,” manager Rick Rentería said. “Everything indicates that he had a wonderful day.” Array.. Reliever Ian Hamilton was placed on the 10-day injury list due to a pain in his right shoulder, and corporate application Leury Garcia (left thumb sprain) was transferred to the ready 45-day injury. Rentería stated that Garcia had had an MRI that showed a torn ligament, which required surgery. “It seems that October would be the possible return for him,” Rentería said.
