Capital to welcome to the class.

BEIJING, July 20 (BelTA – China Daily). – Piano virtuoso Lang Lang announces a collaboration with the NCPA to identify a branch of his music in Beijing, Chen Nan reports.

“Your left hand represents a scene, where the waves dance and shine. Your right hand produces the sound, which sounds like a singer performing a song beautifully,” says pianist Lang Lang.

When his student, Xu Zihang, played Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante, Chopin’s Op 22, Lang shared his musical side.

“As the waves pass, the composition of a song is fluid,” he adds, humming the melody as he moves his hands. “Here the waves get stronger and the composition of a song can be more dramatic. “

Xu, who has been reading at the Juilliard School in New York City for two years and is now taking online categories due to the COVID-19 pandemic, plays the piece of music and makes adjustments to Lang’s instructions.

When the student, Lin Zihan, plays the first movement of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in C principal Op 2 No. 3, Lang stands near the piano, demonstrating crescendo and decrescendo by raising and lowering his head.

“Beethoven was a lion. He had a very strong personality, even when he was a young man, or let’s say, a little lion,” Lang says. “When I learned to play his music, I had misunderstandings. His works are very expressive, he wants the performers to be very attentive and fully deliver the meaning of their musical notes. “

Xu and Lin are among six music scholars who won individual tutoring at a master of elegance held at the ncpa Taihu Performing Arts Center in Beijing’s Tongzhou district on Saturday.

The stall was filled with about 700 young people and their parents, who also attended Lang’s master class.

“I like to share my concepts about music tracks, as well as my private behavior and the disorders I face in my daily practice,” Lang says. “Like both, I like to bring to life one and both musical notes. . It’s wonderful to give both measures a special character. “

The pianist finished the masterful elegance through excerpts from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations, which were very well received by audiences, including Lang’s instructor, 94-year-old pianist and music instructor Zhu Yafen.

“She’s never seen me play the Goldberg Variations and today I dedicate this piece of music to her,” Lang said. In 2020, the pianist released two new recordings of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, one live and one recorded in the studio. Lang began exploring the masterpiece 20 years ago and presented his recordings as a result of a non-public and emotional journey.

It’s no coincidence that Lang gave elegance to his master at the NCPA Taihu Performing Arts Center. A year ago, Lang opened a studio in the art center.

Photos, albums and trophies of the pianist are on display in the studio, plus a 1989 award certificate, proving that the pianist, then 7 years old, won a piano festival in Liaoning Province.

I had concepts for study, especially for students. Saturday’s master of elegance was his first task after the studio’s launch.

“It’s been a year since I have my studio here and it took a lot of time for me, my team and the NCPA team to give this master class,” says the pianist, adding that they had arranged the date for a weekend, hoping to draw in more other people to the event.

On Saturday, the pianist also announced a new collaboration with ncpa Taihu Stage Art Center through the creation of Taihu Lang Lang Music World, a music for young music students.

In 2011, Lang introduced his music school, Lang Lang Music World, so he has established himself in 3 Chinese cities: Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Shanghai.

He says his long-time desire is to open a school in the capital and that the collaboration with NCPA Taihu Stage Art Center began right after the launch of his studio.

“I can’t wait for the new piano teachers and academics to enroll with us in the new school. Now we are working on that,” he added.

The NCPA Taihu Performing Arts Center was introduced in 2018 through the National Center for performing arts, an iconic venue in downtown Beijing. With an area of almost 60,000 square meters, the art center has several indoor and outdoor theaters, practice session rooms and spaces to buy technical equipment, costumes and sets.

“Lang Lang goes to the NCPA every year to conduct and give master classes. He is an old friend,” said Li Zhixiang, vice president of the NCPA. “For music students, Lang Lang is a smart instructor because he has a remarkable harmonic mind eye and he knows how to bring that mind-eye to life through music. “

The partnership between Lang and NCPA began in 2007. The pianist mentions some key events. For example, on December 31, 2007, Lang conducted the NCPA’s Inaugural New Year’s Concert under the direction of Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa. the NCPA.

Lang gave his first Master Class at NCPA in January 2008, followed by two more in 2009 and 2012, respectively; and in 2018 he conducted with the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel at the NCPA.
