Canada’s population grew by more than 430,000 people in the third quarter, the fastest rate of population expansion since 1957.
Statistics Canada released its population estimates as of Oct. 1, which show Canada’s population exceeded 40. 5 million.
It says the country’s overall population expansion in the first nine months of the year has already surpassed the overall expansion of any full year, adding to the record set in 2022.

The record population expansion was driven by foreign migration, with the increase in the number of non-permanent citizens accounting for most of this increase.
The report shows that the number of non-permanent citizens increased to 313,000 in this three-month period.
The federal firm says the increase in the number of non-permanent citizens is due to paintings and permit holders and, to a lesser extent, asylum seekers.
